Frequently Asked Questions

What is Location Vault and how is it different from Google?

It’s a “Google for locations” that searches multiple sources (OpenStreetMap, Google Places and Wikipedia) at once, shows many more results than typical web search, and enriches each with coordinates, photos, and source transparency.

Which sources do you use to find locations?

We aggregate data from OpenStreetMap, Google Places and Wikipedia (and will add more). Each result shows which source it came from so you can judge reliability.

How to use this tool?

Start with specific areas (city/region) instead of huge regions or continents. You can draw a rectangle on the map to search within a selected area. Use filters like {COUNT}, {OBJECT_TYPE}, {LOCATION}, {WITH_PHOTOS}, {CLUSTERING_RADIUS_METERS}, {SORTED BY ABC} to narrow results. Because parts of the application use AI, repeated runs of the same query can return slightly different results.

How long do searches take?

Typical searches take 10–60 seconds because we query multiple sources and enrich results. This is a research tool, so please be patient while we retrieve and merge the information.

What kind of results should I expect?

A list of locations with precise coordinates, addresses (when available), photos, and key details. Results are also shown on a map for quick visual scanning.

Where is it best to use this application?

This application is best used not on a phone, but on a desktop PC or tablet, where you can see more information and a much larger map.

How can I report issues or request features?

Include what went wrong, what you expected, steps to reproduce, and screenshots/timestamps. Email info@locationvault.com. For feature ideas, send your suggestions there too.
